Hampshire holiday

It's great when I can spend some time with family friends again. I enjoyed a lovely relaxing weekend staying with the Scards in their village in Hampshire. Their garden has changed a lot over the last few months and their apples have grown and the leaves have changed to a rich red and dropped. They kept their fire lit and it was so cosy and warm, sitting and reading by the fire.

On Saturday they took me to an Iron-age hill fort called Danesbury. We walked along the top of the 'ring' of ramparts and looked down into the central area where people built small huts. From a large amount of excavations conducted over many years, scientists have found that it is over 2500 years old and was occupied for 500 years. Amazing!

We also spent some time in a little town nearby, visiting the butchers, other shops and having some tea and cakes in a cute teahouse. The next day we went for a drive through the surrounding countryside. The colours of the trees and the fields were beautiful. Then back home for some crumpets, homemade iced buns (with a cherry on top) and tea and milk for supper! How English.

Love to all xo
