European Highlights

I'm back in England now after having a wonderful holiday in Europe on a Contiki tour. It was a great bunch of people and a mix of nationalities, which was nice.  I loved trying out my basic French and Italian and also getting back into my German! We weren't in Germany very long I'm afraid, but I have lots of plans to go back. I also ate lots of really yummy foods - some included the snails (see below!), frog legs, lots of gelato in lots of different flavours, pasta, pizza, chocolate eclairs, pastries, wurst and pretzels!

Overall, it was a fantastic whirl-wind of a trip and I am now exhausted and a bit sick!

These are a handful of the many pictures I took...

Snails... very garlic-y and buttery.

I hope it all doesn't fall off in the heat! My gelato, I mean.  The classic chocolate and lemon combo.

Lovely Florence.

Most of our group (minus a few stragglers)

The Vatican...

So many different moments in time... in Rome

It's colossal!

In front of the Pantheon - one of my favourite parts of Rome

On a Gondola ride in Venice

We went on a bike tour of Munich!

A small pretzel and some nice cheese dip at the beer-garten, mid-way through our bike tour.

It was heaps of fun in the Hofbrauhaus - traditional music and dancing, delicious wurst!

Am Rhein

I love the little German towns on the Rhein. We stayed in this one - St. Goar.

The Netherlands! Edam, famous for cheese.

Another bike tour in Edam! I got the wind machine out for this shot...

Our guide in his clogs!

Amsterdam, obviously.

We went on a tiring paddle boat ride up the canals, which was good when we knew where we were going!

Our last night of the tour, in Amsterdam.

Welcome back to England and Dover!

I hope you are all well and I wish you were here too! Now to get down to the business of finding a job...

  2. The photos are awesome Kim! So beautiful (you and the scenery)! I wish I was there too. I particularly love the photos of France- it looks like such nice weather compared to what we experienced. Also, how did the man ride the bike in the clogs? I didn't realise people actually still wore them! xoxo
